Based in Michigan, Aquila Equity Partners is a private investment firm with deep entrepreneurial roots and a focus on partnering with families, business owners and management teams. We work with our partners to help take companies to new levels of success by building upon the organization’s foundation, concentrating on prudent growth, investing in human capital, processes and systems and enhancing sustainable competitive differentiation.

We don’t operate with the constraints and strategy of a typical private equity fund. Rather, we partner with a small group of companies so that we can dedicate significant energy and resources to each partnership. Our flexible investment holding periods allow us to be patient investors, do what is best for each business and customize our approach to each situation.

WHY THE AQUILA NAME

There are a few reasons. First of all, Aquila translates into eagle or bird in Italian which we believe is illustrative of our desire to help our partner companies soar to new heights. Aquila is also a family name of our founder going back a couple of generations. We view our partner companies as members of our collective families. We are typically partnering with family-owned or entrepreneur-driven organizations and purposely have an approach which can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each situation. We win together and battle through challenges as a team. We also strive to make decisions which are in the best interest of the business and not based purely on emotions. In the end, the most successful partnerships are built on an abundance of communication, a shared vision, a strong culture and mutual trust and respect.
